In the mid 1980's, after playing with numerous bands in his native Dublin, Ken moved to London to try and break into the music business. There he met a couple of like-minded people and formed The Rubensteins, who in their short period of existence played many gigs and had two studio sessions, the second of which was financed by the mighty Warner Bros. Unfortunately no record deal was forthcoming and the ensuing disappointment led to the break up of the band. Ken then went on to join Sound, again playing many gigs in and around London to enthusiastic crowds, but attracting little attention from the record industry or press. By the late 1990's after more than ten years of beating his head against a brick wall he decided he'd had enough and returned to Ireland. However, songwriting and performing is not something easily put aside, and soon he was a regular attraction on the Dublin open mic circuit, whilst at the same time building a house and studio in the countryside. Now he is embarking on a solo recording career and his first release, Find Me Later, will be available on The New Underground in March. Currently Ken lives in the middle of nowhere in County Meath with his wife, two daughters and three dogs. |
